Adventure Leh Trip
Day 1: Arrival Leh
Arrival at Leh airport and transfer to the Hotel. After refresh leisure to acclimatize yourself because of the high altitude of Leh, as it is 3500 Mtrs above sea level. In the evening, you will be visiting Leh Bazaar. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2: Leh
After breakfast, a full day visit to Samker Gompa & Leh Bazaar, Leh Monastry, Shanti Stupa, and Leh Palace. Samker Gompa is little up in the valley, 3 Kms from Leh Town, which is open to visitors in the morning and evening only. The Gompa belongs to the Yellow Sect & was founded in the 18th Century. The Gompa is the seat of the Head Lama of Ladakh & founder of yellow sect, Tson-Kha-Pa. After Sanker, visit the Leh Temple & walk back, or drive to the Leh Bazaar. Overnight in a hotel in Leh.
Day 3: Leh - Uley/Alchi
After Braekfast drive to Alchi, en route visit Basgo fort, Spituk Monastery. Basgo For,t one of the top 100 endangered World Heritage sites, comprises a 500-year-old citadel and a 400-year-old mud brick Gompa. Spituk monastery, standing on a conical hill with three chapels, was founded in the 11th century, but the buildings in a series of tiers with courtyards and steps date from the 15th century. The Yellow-Hat Gelukpa monks created the precedent in Ladakh of building on mountain-tops rather than valley floors. You can have a good view of the countryside around. Overnight stay at Camp/Tent in Alchi/Uley.
Day 4: Uley/Alchi: - Leh
Early morning, proceed to visit Rizong Monastery. It has a monastery and a nunnery, which accommodates lady monks or Nuns locally called "Chomos". After visiting Rizong Monestry drive towards Leh en route visiting Likir Monastery. Likir was built during the reign of Lachen Gyalpo, who installed 600 monks here, headed by Lhawang Chosje. The Gompas were invested with a collection of fine images, Tangkha,s and murals to vie with those at Alchi. The present buildings date mainly from the 18th century since the original buildings were destroyed by fire. Likir was converted to the Gelupa sect in the 15th century. The head lama, the younger brother of the Dalai Lama, has his apartments here, which were extended in the mid 1990s. Before arriving in Leh, visit Phyang Monastery, which is 17 Kms from Leh, built by Tashi Namgyal in the 16th century A.D. and belongs to the Red Cap Sect of Buddhists. Check in atthe hotel. Overnight stay at a hotel in Leh.
Day 5: Leh - Nubra Valley
After Breakfast drive to Nubra Valley via Khardungla (the highest motorable road in the World, 18,380 ft). Post lunch, enjoy the camel safari at Sand Dunes between Deskit & Hundur Village. O/N Nubra Valley.
Day 6: Nubra Valley - Leh
After Breakfast visit Deskit Monastery (Big Buddha), where you can have a magnificent view of Nubra Valley and drive back to Leh by the same Route, crossing Khardungla Pass. O/N Leh.
Day 7: Leh – Chumathang – Tsomoriri (240 Km, 7 Hours)
Chumathang is famous for its medical hot spring. Also visit Sumdah village on the way and continue driving to Tsomoriri lake, which ia s breeding ground for numerous species of birds. The Lake is 8 Kms. Wide and 28 Kms long. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.
Day 8: Tsomoriri – Leh (240 Km, 7 Hours)
In the morning, visit Korzok village with its houses and its gompa appearing like a “Mirage”. The few barley fields at Korzok must be among the highest cultivation in the world. Later return to Leh foran overnight stay.
Day 9: Departure
Early morning transfer to Leh airport to catch the flight for the onward destination.
